The Herdwick at Graduate College has been featured in the Campaign for Real Ale’s Good Beer Guide since 2003 and has by far the largest range of cask ales and real ciders on campus along with over 20 single malts whiskies and mead.

Each Thursday, the bar hosts live music from local bands and also open mic nights. These kick off at 9pm each week during term time. Past bands that have played at The Herdwick include Tin Pan Alley, The Reggiemental Band and Ulpha 590. These events are free and everyone is welcome. Curry lovers should also visit the bar on a Friday nights for the weekly curry night.
